The Saboteur [2009] [Pandemic Studios / EA]

This game is an absolute masterpiece. Sure, it was rushed, since EA closed down the studio behind it immediately after development finished, and the planned DLC never arrived, and the characters were...weak. Ignoring that, 10/10 game.

Lego Batman 2 : DC Super Heroes [2012] [Traveller's Tales]

Some may ridicule WinFan3672 for liking a 3+ video game. However, WinFan3672 loves it. It was the very first game WinFan3672 100% completed, on the PS3. It has a good plot, decent characters and graphics, and the bar for entry is shockingly low.

Game Dev Tycoon [2012] [Greenheart Games]

A game about making games. Balanced mechanics, great storyline, fairly accurate while maintaining a unique experience. WinFan3672 personally likes the PlaySystem 2 era of the game. WinFan3672 has played probably 40 hours at least. Does not sound impressive, until you factor in the limited time WinFan3672 has. Available on Steam.

Factorio [2020] [Wube Software]

85 hours in one world. That's a lot. That's also how much time WinFan3672 has spent in this game.

Make and maintain a factory while making sure you don't get destroyed by increasingly violent aliens. Once your factory is advanced enough, you can use your highly efficient production systemt to research the technologies necessary to launch a rocket and beat the game.

And you won't be in that rocket, obviously. That rocket will be launched for...some reason.

Play it when the next COVID-19 hits society like a brick wall.

Uplink [2001] [Introversion Software]

Apparently this is also an adventure game???

11/10. The tension felt when the Trace Tracker starts ticking faster and faster, the frantic movements and keyboard presses, the black screen and game over message. The feeling of shock enters your body.

A hacker simulation game I play often. WinFan3672 does ONE playthrough, it goes really well, WinFan3672 loses, WinFan3672 quits and leaves it for the day.

Best Puzzle Games

Portal / Portal 2 [2008/2011] [Valve Corporation]

These games require no introduction. You play as the female protagonist, Chell, solving tests involving a portal gun and the way you interact with it. Completing test after test in the Aperture Science Computer-Aided Enrichment Center, guided by the AI that runs it; GLaDOS, the Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System. Both are a true joy to play, although halfway through Portal 2 it does get a little bit tiring. WinFan3672 refuses to spoil the details, even though the story is so good. With cake, cores and chaos, it really is a game worth playing. Note: Portal 1 is the best place to start, since the puzzles are really easy and get you used to its mechanics. 2 has a Co-Op mode and a level editor. Buy both!

Get them on Steam individually, as a pair or part of the Valve Complete Bundle. The Valve Complete Bundle cost about 10 pounds during the Steam Winter Sale of 2021.
